Let me define 'taking over'; reducing the country's infrastructure to
nothing and reducing the population to the point that resistance isn't
viable.  We haven't done that since 1945...

        There is no doubt that we have the power to destroy just about
any  
country. But take it over? That means getting the people of the  
country to accept our authority. I haven't met a group of people yet  
that will not resist a foreign power taking over their land.
