Perfect!  We have a winner.  That's what I needed.  My idea is to use 
sys(1270) to create an object based on a grid, then use code to set all 
the text box dblclick() methods in that grid to say 
"this.parent.parent.dblclick()".  Then I simply put the code I want (in 
this case, a call to the edit form for the current record) in the grid 
dblclick().

That way, I don't have to hit each Text1 in each column in Each grid in 
each form.

That's why I'm a programmer -- I'd rather spend 2 hours figuring out how 
to get out of half an hour's work.  :-)
