I have set up quite a few Mac OSx Leopard machines with Boot Camp and Win XP
SP2. I can tell you this, I have found that the Mac with an Intel CPU runs
XP SP2 every bit as great as the best WinTel PCs I have ever dealt with.
There was one report a while ago stating the best machine to run Windows XP
on was, a Mac with the Intel CPU!

That said, one may tire of having to do selective bootups into one OS or the
other after a while. I have used both VMWare and Parallels so I can run XP
under Mac, and for the most part it works well. For some really unusual
Windows apps thee are some Function Keys that just do not pass Escape
Sequences to an RS232 or Telnet session, so I ended up licensing PowerTerm
to run Telnet sessions under Mac natively. If I do boot into straight Win
XP, however, those Funky Function Key issues disappear.

One word of caution, follow the Boot Camp installation word for word, and do
not try to use anything toher than an XP Pro SP2 CD, as XP or XP SP1 with an
SP2 upgrade will not install correctly, period. Read the insturctions after
printing them out, and follow each step precisely.

Also, be aware the Time Machine File Backup that works really well under Mac
does NOT back up the Windows partition. You need to handle that yourself
with Windows software (SyncBack is great!).

As for AntiVirus apps, be sure to get one for the Windows partition, as the
Max OS will not do anything to save you from Windows threats if you are
running Windows matively or as a virtual machine. IMHO you need not waste
your money for any Mac AntiVirus <g>. Ed Leafe may want to weigh in on that
opinion. He has far more experience with Macs than I do, but I am gaining
ground every week (look out Ed! heh-eh).

Finally, be sure to have no less than 2Gb RAM if you think there is any
possibility of running XP under Mac. More is better.

Good luck, and ENJOY. You will never look back with regret.
