(Sorry...the last subject was not what I wanted to title this thread
as...re-sending with better subject line!)

Client wants me to design a new inventory module. Currently all stuff is
being tracked manually, and he wants to tie into a previous VFP app I did
for him where he's already capturing the suppliers and products. His
forklift guy receives the products from the tractor trailers, and then
stickers them all on the truck (flatbeds) and then takes the bundles to
the stock yard. In this new system, he wants to barcode the labels and
then have a handheld the enters the information during this process. Ok,
sounds normal so far. However, he says to me that he wants to just create
a whole bunch of barcode labels (with just a sequential value), then put
those into the forklift so the forklift driver can take them and just
stick them onto the pallets. That actually sounded like an efficient
idea, so then he just scans the sequential number and associates what
product/location is with it.

I'll probably be designing (or whomever designs the handheld app) to store
the data locally and then we'll just offload it when he goes back to the
office (rather than using wireless connection or some immediate transfer
means).

Does anyone see a flaw in that plan?

tia!
