My wife has a 2 litre saloon which has a gas conversion fitted. We have never run the car on petrol for nearly 3 years. The gas tank is fitted in the boot (American trunk) and holds 90 litres of gas which in terms of range gives nearly 300 miles and costs £25 to fill up as opposed to a full tank of petrol which gives the same range costing £70 at current prices.
In real "cost" terms I reckon that the car is giving the petrol equivalent of 55mpg. My current car is a 2 litre X type Diesel Jaguar that I get about 45mpg average from and when I change it I'l probably go for a 2 litre petrol and have a gas conversion fitted (£about £1,100) as opposed to another diesel. The reason being that diesel is now £1.30 per litre as opposed to £1.15 for petrol and this difference along with the cheaper price of gas (0.49 per litre) makes the conversion cost effective. It would be a big hit on the pocket book whenever you did get around to filling her up, but if you didn't need to make long trips, you could probably drive for months between fill ups. Does anyone know how many gallon the Civic GX natural gas tank would hold? Regards, LelandJ Michael Madigan wrote: > The good things are > > 1. Natural Gas is cheaper than gasoline > > 2.
