I'm not speaking only of John Edwards. But since he's the one you brought up I'll just say that long marriages have their ups and downs. Steve is my third husband. While I never cheated on any husband, I certainly have been tempted and have known other good people that have been tempted. I think it is doubly hard when you are going through some kind of a tragedy or difficult problem. John Edwards lost a child and his wife was treated for breast cancer. I remember our family physician talking with Steve and I when he was recovering from flesh eating bacteria. He said that severe illness either brings you closer together or drives you apart -- that nobody comes through the same as they began. I was upset because of the lies that would have messed up a presidential campaign, and over the idea that he took chances with his wife's health by apparently not wearing a condom. As far as the rest goes, he didn't cheat on me and he was a good legislator when he served. John McCain was a major cheat at the time he met his current wife, and he dumped a sick wife and replaced her with a much younger, richer, and prettier woman. Are you telling me that he is going to cheat on the electorate?
