Actually if you consider Obama agrees with George Bush 40% of the time in
his cast votes, it's easy to reason closer to the truth.

We all know that Obama really agrees with Bush 0% of the time. So the 40%
agreement actually represents the fluff stuff -- senses of the senate,
declarations, and the usual blab both parties parade out that get unanimous
or nearly unanimous votes.

So, we can shave that same 40% off McCain's supposed 95% agreement, and get
to a number -- 45% -- that makes a lot more sense intuitively, considering
McCain actually can't stand George Bush, never has, and can't wait to lose
the dead weight of his nominal friendship with the guy.

The political ménage a trois last week between Hill, Bill and Obama
underscores how insincere most friendships in politics are anyway.

So, I think the number is closer to "half the time" rather than 95%. The
idea that McCain does anything like George Bush is going to look more and
more foolish throughout the campaign. Already it has been shattered, and the
Dems know it. It was actually pretty dumb to put so much emphasis on that
angle of attack.

By the way, check out the Obama bounce:

More of a plop-plop-fizz-fizz than boing-boing.

Carter, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry all had double-digit leads after their
conventions.
