Excellent thought, I am sorry I missed that one. You can adjust most AV apps to skip files with certain extensions. Symantec Corporate AV allows a person to not scan network drive source data as well. Mr. Madigan may have just hit it spot on. Of course, you need to tell both the client PC(s) and Server to not scan .dbf, .idx., .cdx, .fpt, etc. files - otherwise you will certainly get choking at one end of the pipe while the other is wide open.
