This ADHD thing is just a label that doctors use when
they don't know what is really going on with a child.
My two sons were diagnosed with this but neither really
have it. The oldest one (now 16) was diagnosed when he was
only 3 because the psychologist gave him like 50 toys at the
same time and the poor child didn't know what to do with all that,
he took one throw it and took the other one and so on... I also
came home with a bag of pills and started medication. As advised
by the doctor I talk with his teachers to tell them he was on meds,
the teachers response was the meds don't work! he is climbing the
walls in hyperactivity. So I stop the meds and went back to the doctor.
He changed the meds and when I went to the pharmacy to buy them, the
pharmacist ask me the age of the child and told me that the drugs
were used for people over 18, you can figure my surprise, I din't buy
them nor gave anything else to my son. Without any medication or
further therapy, he surprised me every single day with something new
he wrote a book that went published as a local spanish text book and
was paid for it, he writes constantly Reggaeton lirics (that's what
I at my age know so much of this rhythm, which I don't really care much
about, I'm stuck on 70-90s music)and we are in the process of registering
his lirics before the appointment he has with Reggaeton producers/singers
next month. At for school he is a good student As and Bs all the way
through.

The younger one (now 12) also was diagnosed because he talk to much but
is fully able to sit at school and attend the teacher, follow instructions,
etc. so I din't care any further and he has also succeed at school without
any meds.

So get a second opinion, this could be something else and is understandble
after a stormy divorce like the one you're apparently having, maybe he needs
more
attention or a different kind doctor.

Regards.
