Andrew Sullivan used to be more or less conservative supporter of Bush's,
his well-known homosexuality notwithstanding. Open tent and all that. Like
Ariana Huffing-and-puffington, though, he caught a severe case of BDS (Bush
Derangement Syndrome) circa 2003 and has been incurably mad ever since.

His smear of Palin has been shocking to everyone, including former
conservative journalist friends, in terms of how low he's stooped. Think
what you may about his political mood swings, or his homosexuality, he
really smeared his own reputation as a more or less even-handed commentator
with his gutter-level attacks on Sarah, and knee-jerk embrace of any wild
accusation about her--most notably the thoroughly debunked pregnancy "cover
up" theory, for which he still insanely demanded genetic proof even after it
was debunked beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I suspect he does it for the same reason all the self-styled feminist groups
do it, namely, because Palin represents what they all want to be, but for
various reasons cannot be.

A real, not to mention beautiful and successful, woman.

(This should probably be a new psycho-babble term... dare I say it? ...
vagina envy...)
