One of the issues that just came to mind is the inability to disconnect users manually. In Windows you can just close the open files, on NAS it doesn't seem like you can do that without rebooting the disk.
The readyNAS by netgear has settings to shut off aggressive write-back caching. I thought it was shut off the whole time, but when I looked at the settings before, it was on. This is a known problems with multi-user databases, so I'm going to give it another day of full use to see if the errors go away. I've unchecked everything on this screen. http://www.readynas.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/performancetab_default.jpg I've also lowered the MTU setting on the NAS to avoid bad packets. I'm also going to disable unnecessary Apple protocols and change the DNS serer settings which may be contributing to the problem. Additionally, I believe this client has some bootleg XP systems that won't update to the latest service pack, as well as legal ones that haven't been updated either. I'll let you know what happens. --- On Mon, 9/8/08, Graham Brown <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > From: Graham Brown <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: RE: Getting errors on NAS > To: "ProFox Email List" <[email protected]> > Date: Monday, September 8, 2008, 5:17 PM > Hmm interesting. > > I have a meeting with clients on Wednesday to discuss > moving a > standalone application to a NAS box on a peer to peer > network.
