It seems Vista is truly a piece of crap. One of my client sites has been 
moving some people over to it. In all their cases, all FTP communication is 
slowed to a crawl. In addition, it looks like there are general networking 
issues that are cropping up. I think these folks may seriously start 
considering Linux soon.

Anyway, here is one thing my research has turned up. See if running this 
helps your speed issues:

      netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

You probably will need admin rights to run this (of course you will, why 
would MS make anything easy)
