Stephen, Take a look at Kevin Ragsdale's VFP Alert classes, they will raise an XP "Outlook" style Message box. I think the project is now hosted on Codeplex.
There is also a "Toaster" class around somewhere (UT?) which does much the same thing but I can't find the link at present.
