We have a simple POS module in our Hotel software.  To be honest it's
not very good.

Now we tell customers to buy a commercial POS system.  We have a POS
interface that can talk 20+ different protocols (serial, tcp/ip, or
file based protocols).  Much easier, and they do things like stock
control.
