Their 401(k) plans are truly frightening. The same people who manage Social Security (bankrupt), Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac (bankrupt), etc., now want to manage your retirement funds. You get a piddly 3%+ inflation (assuming of course it will be solvent when you need it--ask Russia's senior citizens how this idea worked for them). And when you consider the contributions are compulsory, on top of payroll taxes, medicare taxes, etc.--what will most people have left to invest in the stock market? I don't understand why the word "socialism" is banned from our discourse, because this is exactly the kinds of things socialists do when they run governments: create compulsory programs that ensure the people are enslaved to the state and dependent upon politicians for their very sustenance. This is probably the best argument against Obama: somebody in Washington needs to prevent this disaster from happening. If the Dems get a supermajority, as now seems likely, it sure as hell won't be him. There will be NOTHING to stop them from doing whatever they imagine to do, and they will rush to do it all in 2 years before the inevitable backlash. Those of you who think all this is a good idea should be forced to visit Russia and other socialist hell-holes.
