- - - A seven-page questionnaire being sent by the office of President-elect Barack Obama to those seeking cabinet and other high-ranking posts may be the most extensive - some say invasive - application ever. The questionnaire includes 63 requests for personal and professional records, some covering applicants' spouses and grown children as well, that are forcing job-seekers to rummage from basements to attics, in shoe boxes, diaries and computer archives to document both their achievements and missteps. - - - I'm guessing of course, but I doubt the following are questions on the application: * Have you ever maintained professional ties with, or launched your political career in the home of, a confessed domestic terrorist? * As an employee of the US government, have you ever supported and campaigned for a communist leader running for president in a foreign country, in opposition to its current government, or otherwise engaged in interference in foreign elections that might constitute violations of the Logan Act? * Have you ever benefitted from kick backs from a slum lord seeking political favor? * Are you willing to release your original birth certificate? * Have you ever been part of a private foundation that funded radical groups whose projects fell outside the charter of the foundation? * Have you ever refused to participate in the pledge of allegiance or show your love of country by wearing a pin? If so, why? * Have you ever broken a public promise (e.g., to accept public funding for your campaign, or promising to vote against FISA but then voting for it)? * Have you ever taken illegal drugs? If so, when? When did you stop? From whom did you obtain your drugs? Did you ever sell them in order to afford your habit? * Are you willing to release your full medical records, not just a one page summary of your private physician? * Are you willing to release all records related to your studies at every institution of higher learning you attended? * Have you ever been adopted by a foreign citizen and accepted citizenship to a country other than the United States? If so, have you ever taken the oath of citizenship and renounced citizenship in all other countries to which you have been naturalized? * Do you have any relatives who have ever violated immigration or other US laws? If so who? * Do you have any relatives living in squalor, who may try to use you or otherwise benefit from your post? * Have any foreign relatives of yours participated in sacrificing animals in your honor? * Has your spouse ever said anything indicated a deep-seated resentment of the United States on more than one occasion? (e.g.: "For the first time in my adult life, I'm finally proud of my country" or "America is a downright mean country.") * Have you ever worked for, trained or otherwise been a part of an organization that has a proven track record of engaging consistently in voter registration fraud, and/or aggressive intimidation tactics of businesses and individuals? * Do you think the Consitution is a "fundamentally flawed 'document'" whose constraints needs to be overcome or subverted to achieve "social justice"? ... I could go on and on but this exercise is only making me ill all over again. God, what have we done? - Bob _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
