I am a believer in God, but not a believer in the literal creation story. I
do think we are in the middle of a Global Climate Change, and that Man has
contributed to accelerating that change. I don't know if we are warming or
not, but the evidence I have seen points to warming. Things can change in a
hurry and who knows what the final changes will produce. A while back we
thought it would be a new ice age, and I can see how that could be possible
as a result of nature bringing temperatures and ocean currents back into
balance.

Most mainline clergy actually believe similarly to me. It is the
fundamentalists who differ, and as several folks have said the
fundamentalist churches do tend to be pastored by people who are either
self-taught or less trained than the mainline churches. The pastor I had
when I was young, whose influence was strongest on me, was a United
Methodist pastor with a PhD. I learned how faith and critical thought work
together and are NOT in conflict from my time in that church.
