If you took a look at Al Gore's movie or book, you'd see that he is showing
a correlation between higher levels of CO2 and temperature over history, as
reconstructed from glacier ice cores.

There is no way to tell what the relationship between the two factors
actually is. All we can infer is that at times of higher temps there was
more CO2. There is no certainty about conclusions without more evidence,
which people are trying to find through study.

I tend to believe Gore's conclusion, that man made CO2 is likely to cause
increased warming. But again, nobody really knows what will happen because
it appears that the exact circumstances of today's world have no precedent.
