Jim, He needs the money. Advertising revenue is evidently dead in the water and he's decided to "batten down the hatches" so to speak. Also he is one of those guys who has to have the best of everything no matter what it costs so his loss is my gain.
I must admit that I expected the price to be about 2K dollars at least but maybe he took pity on me as I did him a god deal on his server last year which is thoughtful of him. His current "requirement" is the top of the range Mac desktop which will no doubt be expensive. I'll keep you all posted on progress - or lack of it, over the weekend. Now, just for interest sake I wonder if I can find the Mac version of VFP 3 that I have got unopened somewhere just to delve back into the past. Just one question, why is he getting rid of a 3 month old Macbook? Well, Guys, Its that time of the year when the laptop needs updating as it is not 2 years old (2Ghz 15 widescreen Gateway Centrino single core with 2Gb ram and 200Gb disk) so last night I decided to take the plunge and replace it. As luck would have it my colleague who works as a freelance designer mentioned that he wanted to get rid of his Macbook so weve done a deal. Its a 3 month old 2.5Ghz dual core 17 screen Macbook Pro with 4Gb ram, 320Gb disk (7200rpm) the top of the range HD screen, 3 years Applecare extended warranty and all for £800 (about $1,200) so I THINK Ive got a good deal maybe others will confirm that. In addition hes throwing in VXFusion to run Windblows and Parallels as well as the latest Microsoft Office, a full Adobe suite and Photoshop legit disks and a hard and soft carrying case. So, over the weekend I'll be giving it a good workout and discovering all these goodies that Ed keeps on going on about. You never know I may even become a Mac convert. Still, as long as I can run VFP on it that's all I'm concerned about at the moment as everything else is a bonus.
