Geoff, > I'll give you a quick guess where he gets almost ALL of his data!
I just chalk it up to the typical right-wing 'data-free analysis' and ignore the rest. All the usual crap statements that have been spewed out over the last 40 or so years... * Welfare doesn't work * Public schools don't educate anyone * Unions should be busted * Government can't do anything better than the private sector * Outsourcing government jobs saves money * The 'Market' forces work best * Regulations hamper business growth and success It is all a bunch of crap. There's no data behind the statements but there's a whole group of right-wing nutballs that accept the thoughts as fact. I certainly don't know all of them, but there's a whole lot of taken-for-granted-reality floating around in the right-wing circles. Since they just listen to talk radio, talk only to like-minded folks, and won't crack a serious book on topics relevant to real life they have no idea how stupid they sound to people who actually READ. I'm married to a guy that taught American Government in high school, and if I pop off with a less than well thought out political argument I wind up having to research it to see what the real story is. He does catch me often enough that it trims my rants pretty quickly. ;-) There are a lot of interesting conversations in our home, but not a lot of free-floating analysis minus the data.
