Michael, Most states only obligate you to pay for health insurance when the mother has no health insurance. That's what happened with both Steve and I when each of us when we were non-custodial parents.
Try not to let it get to you, and get a laugh from the Alan/Judith nonsense on Two and a Half Men on Mondays. The Judith character was just trying to stick it to Alan even though she left him instead of the other way around. Sometimes people just want their ex-spouse to suffer. There's nothing that can be done about it. They have to get over it in their own time. Steve's ex was pretty reasonable with him nearly all the time, but she insisted that he pay for his two daughters' health insurance. It was costing him $900/mo to do so and he was on disability so it was a huge burden. When I married him I added his daughters to my insurance policy because it didn't cost me very much at all to do so due to the difference in our ages. So his daughters were covered by *MY* plan, but when his ex found out she quickly went out and bought them insurance out of her own pocket. His daughters never even knew I covered them on my insurance until years later. She just didn't bother to tell them. They really disliked me, BTW. That's the kind of crap that happens in divorce. Years from now when they are older and don't live with her anymore, and you can just discuss history with them without emotion, they'll know what the truth is about you and what you are trying to do. Right now, just do the best you can. It will all come out in the wash later on. Keep happy. Ignore the crap. It is not worth your brain or emotional energy. Time will repair this.
