William, Tracy's right---the Code References feature in VFP9 is absolutely worth the price of the upgrade! Chet Gardiner, a long time poster here (but retired nowadays and offline iirc) also created a program called ChkStr found on the ProFox downloads page: http://leafe.com/dls/vfp I haven't used Chet's tool but apparently it does about the same thing.
