Apart from the Archie Bunkers of the world, people are celebrating the world over at the end of Bush and the beginning of man who actually knows what freedom means; who understands the concept of working together for the common good and has a bit of an inkling about human rights unlike Bush and co. Why do you really think that after 9/11 when America had virtually the entire free world supporting them that that good will was squandered so badly that 7 year later america was distrusted and despised by much of the western world? America is supposed the be the 'light on the hill' of freedom and democracy; of liberty and safety. That light went very dark during Bush's time and was in danger of being extinguished. You were beginning to sacrifice your essential liberty for some temporary safety and ultimately gaining neither.
The worlds embracing of Obama is not a political statement or a racial one. It is far more fundamental one. The world needs a free, safe and democratic America and the likes of Bush put that at serious risk. The world is a better and safer place today because Bush has gone home. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Michael Madigan Sent: Thursday, 22 January 2009 9:11 AM To: ProFox Email List Subject: RE: [OT] Hail to the chief What was Harry Truman's poll numbers?
