There were and still are a bunch of fakes who prey on grieving people.  I have 
a friend who used to go to gypsy fortune tellers, and they would all tell him 
that he had a love curse on him and for a few dollars, they could remove it. LOL

The gypsies sized him up.  A guy with no wedding ring, with not a lot of 
charisma, and they knew he wasn't a hit with the ladies.
