It is a local issue. Sarasota *never* has any economic problems to speak of but now we have fallen off the chart. Something like 3000 or more unemployed in a town of 50k. I am running for City Commission on the platform that we need federal money to get our economy back on track with a number of civic projects. Yeah, I know, I am a "conservative" but, you can't let people starve and the projects are good projects.
