HI Pete, the video is about Grenoble's tramway !!!!
I am busy by now and I didn't answer yet to your questions but i'll do it !!! In France you must take care of words : 1) tramways (urban train) are running within the city (max speed is 70km/h) and as you can see tracks are shared with cars (just a little mainly police, ambulances, firemen and taxis) and with people. You can see, too, 'grass' tracks (track with grass between the rails) : it's a mean to lower noise (very efficient), to avoid cars and bicycle to run on the tracks and to .... improve dog's toilets !!! 2) suburban trains rune up to 120Km/h on the National rail company. No car, no people on the tracks. safety (block system) as in a high speed train. In Germany (Karlsruhe for example) you have suburban trains going inside the cities : it is more expensive to build but very efficient. I'll try to find an URL. -- Jean MAURICE Grenoble - France - Europe www.atoutfox.org www.aedtf.org _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
