With a block of Dell units I ordered the other month I opted to order them
with XP Pro where Linux was not an option, just in case I later decided to
run Windows on them. And I took 3 of them and stripped XP Pro and installed
Ubuntu Linux, and am running VMWare under them to get 2 - 4 Win2k virtual
PCs out of those units.

I just received the most recent set of Dell Precision machines what I was
able to get Linux, with 8Gb RAM. But it is Red Hat 64 bit Workstation
Linux. I could not get the new units with no OS, and had to get 64 bit
Linux to get 8 Gb with the initial uild. I plan to strip Red Hat (nice OS,
but I do not feel compelled to purchase the annual license for their
"special software"), and install Ubuntu Server 64 bit also, then run VMWare
on them as well.

So it goes, little by little I am moving more of my machines from Windows to
Linux where I can. I will never fully escape Windows, however, not do I
want to. I need to have something to bitch about, after all!
