Thanks Grigore - this gives me what I needed.

I was trying to avoid a lengthy CASE statement for readability purposes
and thought I could sneek in a one-liner function to determine which
value I was looking at. Could have sworn there was something built-in
for this sort of thing, but like I said I'm rather rusty at VFP these
days...
