http://bit.ly/wPUJk - - - White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said closing the detention center at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, was a hasty decision, in his daily press briefing with reporters.
President Obamas decision to close the controversial detention center in the early days of his presidency was met with adulation on the political left and earned headlines in newspapers across the world. It was seen as a clear break from Bush-era national security policy. But recently Obama has irked many liberals with his decision to continue Bush-era military commissions to try Guantanamo Bay prisoners and his decision not to release photographs allegedly depicting U.S. soldiers abusing detainees in Afghanistan and Iraq. To an extent, this break with the political left is indicative of the difference between campaigning and governing. Gibbs' comment appears to affirm some White House critics who argued that closing Guantanamo Bay was a policy shift easier said than done. - - - Who knew? :/ All Obama *really* cares about is taking over the private sector of the economy. He knows jack about foreign policy or fighting wars or any of that bothersome stuff, so his flip flopping with the political winds on this should surprise precisely nobody. His sole foreign policy goal is to apologize early and often and sound like a great listener, basking in the glow of large foreign audiences, even as he does whatever the hell he wants anyway, or delegates US policy to people who give a damn. He also knows nothing about running businesses, but the distinction here is that he *thinks* he knows more than businesspeople do, and when he gets to "govern" those companies for a spell, we'll all see what happens when you give a narcissistic know-it-all with zero experience such unprecedented power. Quick example.. Minority radio owners are being hurt by lack of car advertising all of a sudden. Well, it was Obama who decided to slash the marketing budgets for GM and Chrysler. So now they have their hands out for bailouts. Perfect! He can hand them some monopoly money and now he gets to be our broadcaster-in-chief as well! Isn't community organizing fun?! I see the future. It looks like the past. - Bob _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
