In 1977 I had a 300 baud TI Silent 700 terminal with which to surf the company "web." Quite an innovation with its built-in acoustic coupler. I took it to prospects' offices. A real problem when they had one of those modern-styled phones without the round mic and speaker handsets. I had to hold it on the coupler while typing with the other hand. What a revelation when the 1200 baud modems came out. Speed! Power!
