Well let's start with the fact that most dealerships are entrepreneurial in nature -- most sales people work on commission only with lousy benefits, because they're chasing after the American dream, not some half-baked idea of financial security.
It's hard to close dealerships without necessarily hurting Republicans. Which is why Obama is doing it. Far from post partisan, he is the most partisan president we've ever had. HE can't even keep his partisan comments out of official dignitary meetings, such as the one with Brazil's president in which he joked that Republicans would probably cheer his getting lost in the Amazon rain forest. One the one hand, a true observation. :) On the other hand, completely inappropriate and even Bush never once made such a comment in such an official presidential setting. Obama relishes his role as the anti-Republican. He can't quit campaigning against the man he replaced. He is clear about siding with certain groups (unions) and opposing others (investors).
