- - - "Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am?' It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I'd appreciate it." - - - Notice, she doesn't deign to call him General. It is usual and customary for military personnel to use "sir" and "ma'am" out of respect, in addition to official titles, as is conversationally appropriate. They are often so polite and respectful along these lines that it is awkward listening to them, when everyone else in our culture has gotten so crass and self absorbed. Like Ma'am Senator. I can't stand these cocky, condescending, effete, know-it-all, kiss-my-ass politicians. Barney Frank is another one that revels in this kind of pointless down-putting display of power and status. Boxer deserves new title. She's earned it. Ex-senator. - Bob _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
