I have nothing but the greatest respect for Dr. Stonebraker. He was one of the key players in inventing the RDBMS models in innovating Ingres and Postgres. However, since he invented the really intriguing column-oriented models of his current endeavor, he has written more and more vehemently about his new invention. This might end the DBMS error in large-scale, high-capacity, high-traffic databases. It's still silly to think of it for small and medium business inventory, order processing, etc. There's still a market for horseshoes, too, just a little smaller.
