That's not true - you can set individual access rights on every
file/folder on your computer, in both Windows XP and Vista.

Ping has nothing to do with windows at all. If they can't ping each
other AND their firewalls are off, then check the cabling/routers -
you have a hardware flaw.
Sharing all files is not required for software development at all. Use
a version control system instead. Visual Source Safe, Team Server, or
Subversion (which is free, btw).

Bottom line, your rant is based on nothing. You have problems, but the
reason for your problems is elsewhere, not in Windows.
