MailTo links are unreliable and they don't support attachments. On one of my Vista boxes the MailTo link opens up Internet Explorer with a message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer" It makes you program look like it is a virus and dangerous. You can tell the dialog to never show its face again so it might be a onetime thing for the users. Or maybe not. The great thing about MailTo is it can be mapped to anything, but this can also be a bad thing. I think the direct route of using BLAT or wwIPStuff is the route to go. If you want MAPI integration, check out Craig's class as recommended by others. I have it in production and it rocks.
