Nah - they are users and don't want to be confused by details <g>.  Most of
them wouldn't know an extension if it bit them on the leg.  They store
everything in My Documents and have no concept of folders or, in some cases,
meaningful titles - but enough of the foibles of users.  Like most here I am
irritated by some of the M$ assumptions, but a lot of them are justified!  I
particularly hate hiding extensions and agree that they might help educate
people - but I'm not convinced.  Mark Stanton, another Profoxer, used to
tell the tale of a banker getting quite irate because he had saved his
spreadsheet on the hard drive but it was no longer there.  When questioned
further it turned out that he had saved it on the local hard drive on a
totally different machine.  He was brilliant at making millions of dollars
for the bank but couldn't get the concept of networked drives and local
drives.
