Hi Michael, This routinely happens in the US and, I suspect, throughout the world. These are elderly people who cannot stick up for themselves and thus are natural targets for neglect and abuse. The elder care system attracts people who are natural abusers as well since no one wants those jobs and there is little scrutiny of warm bodies who will accept them. They want staff, just anyone with the paper qualifications - which are minimal, because those facilities have a guaranteed revenue if they can keep them open. The way to avoid it in the US is to stay-the-hell out of hospitals and Nursing Homes. If something is suggested to you that requires a hospital stay or confinement in a nursing home seek an alternative treatment. You don't have to choose an "operation" or a "procedure" just because some doctor wants to bill for it, you know. -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
