I will say yes from a version 1.0 frame of mind. I have heard that it gets better with Win2008 but I have no experience with it. I do know that the Admin team can set this up for you or in most cases it was never thought about from their POV. I am looking from the laptop that leaves the network/campus and exists away. My documents are populated and synced when you reattach later.
