I don't support any effort at anything less than a faithful translation of Scripture from the original language, conveying as much of the original poetry, meaning and idioms of the native tongue.
I learned Greek so I could understand the New Testament (though I'm sure one day we'll find the Hebrew originals), and I'm learning Hebrew so I can read the original Tanach. I don't trust any translations .. many of them do indeed slip translator's biases (most of them cultural not political) into the translation. Truth be told, neither capitalism nor socialism/communism are "endorsed" by Scripture. - Bob > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On > Behalf Of Helio Wakasugui > Sent: Monday, October 05, 2009 7:45 PM > To: ProFox Email List > Subject: Re: [OT] Obamas Violated First 3 Rules of Selling > > Dementia<http://blog.beliefnet.com/crunchycon/2009/10/conservatizing- > the-bible.html> > > On Sun, Oct 4, 2009 at 7:38 PM, Geoff <[email protected]> wrote: > > > you are a joke Bob. > > > -- > "Our great democracies still tend to think that a stupid man is more > likely > to be honest than a clever man." > Bertrand Russell > > > --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- > multipart/alternative > text/plain (text body -- kept) > text/html > --- > [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
