OK - I'm going to put my additional 2 cents in here - but, will also do a duck & cover in case Mr. Russell is reading this! :-)
I too think that this whole idea of a party over Win7 the release is bordering on the Ludicrous. But - that being said (and even though the idea of a Win7 party is pretty dumb) - the idea that MS may be seriously dipping into the whole strategy of Marketing via Social Networking on the Net - may in fact be a smart thing indeed! Sure, the message may be dumb - but, we all know how Ad agency have produced obnoxious commercials as a way of raising people's awareness about a product. Now, if you could raise a MASSIVE awareness, and do it for nearly FREE - via this kind of Social Networking - then maybe MS has something there! Myself - I am ALSO trying to explore the idea of reaching mass amounts of people via Social Networking - although I believe for my "product" it makes sense and it won't be done in an obnoxious way. (FYI - my "product" is my website: Gallery-3D.com) Anyway - I think we pretty much Beat this Win7 Party to death now... If I were a shareholder, I would be sorely pissed off.
