If you do end up with Windows 7, use the new feature to boot to VHD. Create
a VHD of your current laptop with:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/ee656415.aspx

You'll be able to boot into the VHD, I'm not sure if you can access Windows
7 partition from within though. You will be able to play in Windows 7 and
move things over slowly as needed, and know that you can bring your old VHD
up in side Windows 7 later, use the standard TCP/IP stack to transfer files
when you need them to Windows 7.

I've replaced my HDD in my laptop in the past, upgrading from a 40G to a
120G and increased my partitions when I did. I used the disk copy software
available from the manufacturer of the drive I bought.

My laptop monitor is dying, and there's a chance I may be getting a newer
laptop.

Last time I migrated my software/settings from my older computer to this
one, it took nearly a week. Not anxious to do it again, so am thining about
Ghost, or something similar.

1. Anyone used these products? Do they work as advertised?
Recommendations?

2. Assume that the new laptop is Windows 7, and 180GB hard drive. If I use
these products to clone my current XP, with it's 90GB hard drive, will I end
up with XP on the new machine, and 180GB of disk space (some of which will
be used by the cloned data, of course). That is what I'm hoping for.

Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
