I don't know why the FN Five-seven has been labeled as "The Cop Killer"; since, it is primarily used by police, swat teams, and the military who are likely to encounter criminals/terrorist wearing protective vests. The Five-seven uses a non-standard round, which is only manufactured by it maker, FN Herstal.
The 5.7 MM round has a velocity of around 2,000 feet per second, (eg 2,000 fps) falling somewhere between a hot 9 mm round, which travel around 1,600 fps, and a high power rifle round, which travels around 2,700 fps.
