What else is new?
What is new is the fact that NOW we are in the middle of a phony dollar carry trade asset bubble, induced by government policy, which, when it bursts, will finally be the end of our system as we know it. They -- the architects of this monstrous bill -- are well aware of this, and things are proceeding as planned. In other words, what's new is that in the past this kind of thing was motivated by stupidity or mere greed. That continues in most quarters (esp. in Sen. Landrieu's office), but in the most important halls of government, now it's motivated by demonstrable malice aforethought. - Publius > Regards, > > Pete > http://pete-theisen.com/ > http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ > "It ought never to be forgotten, that a firm union of this country, under an efficient government, will probably be an increasing object of jealousy to more than one nation of Europe; and that enterprises to subvert it will sometimes originate in the intrigues of foreign powers, and will seldom fail to be patronized and abetted by some of them. Its preservation, therefore ought in no case that can be avoided, to be committed to the guardianship of any but those whose situation will uniformly beget an immediate interest in the faithful and vigilant performance of the trust."
