I just ran some benchmarks with 32MB, 64MB and 1/3 available RAM (on a 3GB machine) settings for sys(3050). Test application is CPU and I/O intensive involving over 50 tables.
32mb 1:18 mm:ss 64mb 1:17 1/3 1:17 (1/3 of installed RAM) Negligible difference, but I switched to 64mb to avoid what Mike may have hit with machines having 4GB+.
