There is no cure for hoarding, but perhaps it can be
controlled, depending on level of severity. My wife is
probably around level 4 or 5 as covered in the wiki link:

Excerpt:

With existing drug therapy OCD symptoms can be controlled,
but not cured. Several of these compounds have been tested
successfully in conjunction with OCD hoarding, but
paroxetine in particular is indicated for treatment of
compulsive hoarding.

My wife is already on more meds that you can shake a stick
at, and boxes full of vitamins. She spends half her life
picking up her meds. She also fancies herself an expert on
home med remedies. I don't even take an aspiring, unless in
serious pain.

She grew up in a small town of about 300 folks, (eg Mullen,
Texas), in a single frame house. She remembers the
wallpaper rattling on cold days when the wind was up. In
the summer a trip had to be made ever other day for a large
block of ice to keep the old wooden ice box refrigerated. LOL

I'm going to watch "Die Hard" in a little bit, and then get
a good night sleep. 2009 is quickly coming to a close,
which is none to soon for me, considering what 2008 and 2009
did to me and my retirement fund. Hopefully, 2010 will be a
better year.
