If you want to use a GUI like Gparted and a GPT partition table you can overcome the partition size limits of FAT32, but be sure and check on GPT compatibility to see that all OS(s) that need to access the GPT partition support it. I believe there is another limitation that GPT does not address, and that is the maximum file size under FAT32 is limited to 4 GB.
