WASHINGTON – The top Democrat in the U.S. Senate apologized on
Saturday for comments he made about Barack Obama's race during the
2008 presidential bid.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described then-Sen. Barack
Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect." Obama is the
nation's first African-American president.

"I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words. I sincerely
apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially
African-Americans for my improper comments," Reid said in a statement
released after the excerpts were reported on the Web site of The
Atlantic.

"I was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama during the
campaign and have worked as hard as I can to advance President Obama's
legislative agenda."

If Trent Lott had gone to a birthday party for Harry Reid and said
what a wonderful guy he is, would the Dems have run him out of town?

Besides, how is this any different than when Biden said, off the cuff,
that Obama was the first articulate, nice looking black to run for
office, and hence a legitimate threat in the field of candidates?

Liberals are the new, truly racist, plantation owners, but
unfortunately 90% of blacks think they owe them for their
cotton-pickin' welfare freebies.

Which they do.

"It ought never to be forgotten, that a firm union of this country,
under an efficient government, will probably be an increasing object
of jealousy to more than one nation of Europe; and that enterprises to
subvert it will sometimes originate in the intrigues of foreign
powers, and will seldom fail to be patronized and abetted by some of
them. Its preservation, therefore ought in no case that can be
avoided, to be committed to the guardianship of any but those whose
situation will uniformly beget an immediate interest in the faithful
and vigilant performance of the trust." [Federalist Papers #59]
