http://bit.ly/6VVzXx - - - Latif, a professor at the Leibniz Institute at Germany's Kiel University and an author of the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, believes the lengthy cold weather is merely a pause -- a 30-years-long blip -- in the larger cycle of global warming, which postulates that temperatures will rise rapidly over the coming years.
At a U.N. conference in September, Latif said that changes in ocean currents known as the North Atlantic Oscillation could dominate over manmade global warming for the next few decades. Latif said the fluctuations in these currents could also be responsible for much of the rise in global temperatures seen over the past 30 years. - - - Translation: "Yeah, sure, I believe in global warming, like everyone else whose career depends on it. Right after the impending ice age. Quote me on it!" I mean, isn't it obvious? The best scientists will go along with the popular orthodoxy over a period of time they cannot possibly justify or be held accountable to. But their money is on global cooling via the NAO, not warming. And the dirty secret in plain site for everyone to read from his prediction is that the NAO has more to do with global temperatures than anthropogenic CO2. Otherwise, the NAO would have been sidelined, not the CO2 theory. What a crock. Gets more painfully obvious by the day. - Publius -- "It ought never to be forgotten, that a firm union of this country, under an efficient government, will probably be an increasing object of jealousy to more than one nation of Europe; and that enterprises to subvert it will sometimes originate in the intrigues of foreign powers, and will seldom fail to be patronized and abetted by some of them. Its preservation, therefore ought in no case that can be avoided, to be committed to the guardianship of any but those whose situation will uniformly beget an immediate interest in the faithful and vigilant performance of the trust."
