Al,
Afraid I do disagree with you there. I have now had the iPhone for 5 months
and would gladly lose an arm instead of being without it.....It would still
be easy to operate with one hand anyway!.

Having had various windows mobile phones for 5 years I NEVER was able to use
them seriously on the internet. Either too slow or just plain didn't work
and too, too fiddly using that damned stylus which was completely useless.
With the iPhone, everything is just so easy and intuitive. Even if you just
take the phone itself it has SIMPLE BIG buttons and not too many of them,
just the ones you need...Dial, Hands free, Mute and End which is enough.

The ability to instantly dial any number that you find on the internet or on
the iPhone anywhere is invaluable and the GPS locator is brilliant when
integrated with applications that give you local banks, supermarkets, shops
and restaurants etc.

Some 2, nearly 3 years after it was launched it still has no match with any
other phone. Android comes close, but is a work in progress, Windows Mobile
is just past it and even the rumored V7 looks a makeshift stop gap.

No, Apple has hit the right spot dead on and I am considering the purchase
of an iPad when it becomes available as there will be lots of modifications
and add-ons when it is mainstream. Look upon it as a revamped portable
television and you get what it is all about. OK, it isn't a phone...yet, but
the iPhone suffices. Look at it as a personal information display device and
you will get where it is placed.

I have been meaning to get into some iPhone app development but don't seem
to have the time. Yes, I don't like the stranglehold that Apple have on the
Apps or the way you develop things but that may change.

Now, with a MacBook pro at home, an iPhone and maybe an iPad I'm turning
into a geek.....all I need now is a Harley Davidson and my lifestyle will be
set out for me.

Don't knock it before you have tried it I say and admit when you have
developed a distorted and biased opinion based upon nothing other than
prejudice.

If it's like many Apple products, it will be much better by the third
release. I love the idea of reading magazines and newspapers in color, so
I'm interested but I'll wait for some revisions to come along.
