Thanks All (Ted, Ricardo, Richard & Stephen) Functions in SQL return unexpected results (sometimes, which is too much), CHRTRAN() would take out ALPHA characters in the part number base (which is essential). RegExp are not supported in SQL (VFP anyway). I have never used wild cards in SQL but that wouldn't take care of an issue like:
12A456789-123 = 12A456789-%12%" Or 12A456789-1234 = 12A456789-%123%" the UNION/ISALPHA looks like my winner. This is getting to be a habit Ted ... you saving my a$$. Again, many thanks to all.
